BRADFORD Bulls reserves, academy, scholarship and women's teams are set to play their home fixtures at Horsfall Stadium over the next few months.

Bulls and Bradford (Park Avenue) - who purchased a 30-year lease on the ground from the council last year - have made the announcement on their websites.

Bulls reserves, who used Dudley Hill's ground as a base last season, are due to play their first match at Horsfall on Thursday against Castleford Tigers (kick-off 8pm).

Bulls state on their website: "We can this afternoon announce Bradford Park Avenue’s Horsfall Stadium will host our Academy, Scholarship, Reserves and Women’s games for the start of the 2020 campaigns.

"The stadium opened in 1931 and has a Main Stand which holds over 1,800 seats and offers standing vantage points around the perimeter of the pitch."

Bradford Bulls director Mark Kilgallon said: “We would like to thank Bradford Park Avenue for their assistance and offering us their facility to play our junior and women’s sides in 2020.

“We have always enjoyed close links with the club, which also boasts fantastic heritage and we trust our supporters and players will enjoy playing at a top-class facility such as the Horsfall Stadium."

Avenue have plans to install a 3G pitch in May providing they get the go-ahead for the scheme by the end of next month.

They state on their website: "We are proud to announce that Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC will be hosting several Bradford Bulls reserves, under-18s and scholarship fixtures at the Horsfall Stadium.

"This will be a short-term period from February through till the end of April, when our exciting stadium redevelopment begins with the installation of our 3G pitch.

"The first Bradford Bulls fixture is this Thursday, February 20 - Bradford Bulls v Castleford Tigers (8pm).

"We hope to see as many supporters of both clubs come along and enjoy this fixture. Moving forward with our partnership with West Bowling ARLFC, we will see much more football, rugby league and athletics played at our new sports hub facilities in the not too distant future."

Avenue owner Gareth Roberts wants to create a community sports hub at Horsfall and earlier this month announced that West Bowling ARLFC would be a partner in the new project.

Along with the proposed new 3G pitch, a new hospitality block, a new perimeter fence for security purposes, extra floodlights and more changing rooms are also part of new planned developments at the site.
