THACKLEY were unable to steal a march on their Northern Counties East League Premier Division rivals as they lost 3-2 at lowly Bottesford Town.

Storm Dennis claimed all but four top-flight games, with the Dennyboys getting a late call to set off for North Lincolnshire as their match got the go-ahead.

But in windy conditions they were unable to capitalise as the second-from-bottom side went 3-0 up.

Adam Muller missed an early chance for Thackley before Town went ahead with a long-range effort from Dayle Hutson on 22 minutes.

The visitors had claims for a penalty denied when Albert Ibrahimi went down in the box before Kieran McCaffery made it 2-0 on 34 minutes with a shot from the edge of the area.

Thackley's hopes were all but ended after the break when a corner from Jack Cross blew straight in.

But Pat McGuire's men fought back as sub Owen Murphy converted a cross by Ray Sibanda with 16 minutes left.

Ben Grech-Brooksbank then headed home another cross from Sibanda to make it a nervous final few minutes but the hosts held out.

All other local NCEL clubs had their matches postponed but Steeton were in action at Pilkington in the North West Counties League Division One North.

Phil Marsh put the hosts ahead with a free-kick on 67 minutes before they sealed a 2-0 victory deep into stoppage time. With the Chevrons pushed up in search of an equaliser, a shot was deflected in by the away side's Ben Darkins.
