Carl Zaborowski may be of a tender age but the big Eccleshill goalkeeper is definitely not backward at coming forward, as the saying goes.

The young shot-stopper has been one of the successes of the Eagles' policy of trusting to youth and he is aware of his value. His confidence is most certainly not lacking - and nor should it after recent results.

"We have not conceded a goal away from home in the league all season," said United's assistant manager Andy Patterson following last Saturday's 3-0 win at Brodsworth.

"That is a great statistic but one that Zaba' has picked up on and he keeps nattering in my ear asking for a clean-sheet bonus.

"I told him get them at home and I'll think about it'. It would be nice to find the same form at home as we have away. He has been playing well in goal but he has been protected by a very fresh-faced back four most of the time."

Former Bantams apprentice striker Patterson, who is the ripe old age of 26, says the club have been pleased with a lot of the young lads of their books.

He said: "The squad is gelling, and it's fantastic to see, but we need to keep winning. Producing the odd result is great but finding that elusive quality of consistency can lead to winning things.

"We are on a little bit of a run and it would be pleasing if we could maintain it right up to the FA Vase tie next Saturday at home to Pickering Town. We would like to go into that game on a high."
