ILKLEY Town made it 12 wins on the bounce to reach the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup semi-finals.

They overcame fellow West Yorkshire League Premier Division side Rawdon Old Boys 2-0 at a windy Ben Rhydding Sports Club.

Good finishing by midfielders George Gomersall and Harry Brown saw Ilkley set up a last-four tie against Tadcaster Magnet at county headquarters scheduled for March 23.

Ilkley, who have applied for promotion to the Northern Counties East League, are chasing silverware in three competitions.

Their county cup success was topped off by boss Simon Armstrong being awarded the West Yorkshire League’s Manager of the Month for January.

He said: “I don’t see it as an individual award, I see it as a club award for the work that’s going on, not only on the pitch but off the pitch as well.

“Obviously, it was nice to get the recognition, but it was more important that we got through to the semi-final. We now want to go on and win the cup.”
