Silsden join the rest of the Vodkat League's top-tier clubs in the League Cup on Saturday as the competition enters the second-round stage and they will be favourites to progress.

They face a potential banana skin tie though against a Norton United side who are bang in form and challenging to join Silsden in the top division, with the Stoke-on-Trent outfit having home advantage.

Cobbydalers boss Paul Schofield said: "It's a long way to travel; an early set-off time for us which brings logistic problems with it. They are second in Division Two and they will want to test themselves against a side like us.

"But if we can see off Norton and look after ourselves, we could progress a long way in the competition. There is no FC United of Manchester in our league this year so the League Cup is definitely up for grabs.

"The first round was between the Second Division clubs but this round is open, so there have been a few all-First Division ties thrown up. Some of the top teams will knock each other out and that could leave the way open for us.

"We will be giving it our full attention, playing or best available players, because we know Norton would love to put us out and will probably be rivals of ours next season."

Experienced defender James Nettleton (groin) has failed a fitness test and Michael Rhodes (work) is also missing. But Martin Packer is back in contention following a suspension and striker Lee Reilly is hoping the plaster-cast on his arm will be deemed safe by the match officials.
