SILSDEN bounced back from defeat at home to Knaresborough Town with a 2-0 win over Athersley Recreation.

The Cobbydalers were on their own soil again and this time made their advantage count.

Despite being bottom of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, Athersley were proving tricky opponents before having a player sent off after the break.

Tempers flared in the second half as several players became involved in a melee on the halfway line.

And not long after Shane Kelsey received his marching orders for Athersley for a second yellow card.

Silsden capitalised with goals from Myles Foley (72 minutes) and Laurence Sorhaindo (81 minutes), Matthias Britton going close to a third.

Liversedge’s home clash with Thackley was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. A new date of Tuesday, March 10 has been set for the fixture.

Albion Sports (at Staveley Miners Welfare) and Campion (at Worsborough Bridge) are due in league action tonight.

Meanwhile, Farsley Celtic bowed out of the second round of the FA Trophy after losing 2-0 at Barnet in a replay.

The match finally went ahead at the third time of asking.

Chances were at a premium in a goalless first half before Dan Sparkes gave Barnet the lead with a low free-kick that found its way under the wall.

And the Bees confirmed a home tie with Barrow in the next round when Josh Walker added a second goal late on.
