With the colder nights and rivers still coloured, no catch reports have been received this week.

There will be a small work party at Coppice pond this Sunday to try some new fish refuge methods, which may cause some small disruption for anglers.

The Aire Rivers Trust are having two tree planting days at Spring Farm in Harden (BD16 1BS) on Friday, January 31 and Friday, February 7, both between 10am and 3pm.

All volunteers will be welcome, and are asked to contact Nick Milsom on 07378 878857 for details.


Membership applications have now been brought up to date and members should receive their books within the next few days.

Some anglers are fishing at Pool without first obtaining the day ticket. These are available from the service station at Pool bridge, as well as at Angling & Country Sports in Otley.

The match at Kippax Park on Tuesday, January 14 was a difficult affair. T. Hewson was first with a single carp of 6lb 5oz. P. Beedle came second with 6lb 1oz and J. Brogden managed third with 2oz.

There was an improvement for Saturday's match though. The winner was T. Gallifant with 55lb 9oz. M. Dickinson finished second with 15lb 6oz and A. Gallant came third with 9lb 15oz.

In the match at Moor Monkton pools on Wednesday, January 15, the winner was S. Armitage with 54lb 2oz. N. Carr was runner up with 47lb 10oz and S. Mazza managed third place with 31lb 9oz.

In last Sunday's match, first place went to S. Jeffreys, with 36lb 3oz. G. Millar grabbed second with 24lb 5oz, while M. Hare was just behind in third with 23lb 3oz.


Membership books and canal day tickets can now be obtained from Angling Direct in Leeds. We will publish a match programme for 2020 within the next few days.

Ice has been forming on the canal over the last few mornings and feeding the swims is of importance, as a mistake at the start of a session can see a dry net.

With the recent rains, the river banks are in a slippery condition and extra care should be taken.
