COLCHESTER are currently enjoying their best unbeaten run for 23 years after going three months without defeat.

The U’s have not lost in their last 13 league outings since Morecambe won 1-0 at the JobServe Community Stadium in mid-October.

It has still got a way to go to threaten the club record of 18 set in 1996-1997 but John McGreal’s men are closing in fast in the congested play-off picture.

Saturday’s scrappy win over Macclesfield ended a run of four successive draws for the Essex club and featured a wonder strike from winger Callum Harriott.

He now has City in his sights to keep the Colchester charge going.

Harriott said: “I don’t know many teams who can go 13 matches unbeaten. It shows what kind of team we have and it’s time to kick on from here now.

“We’re back at home again and we need to do the same and we’ll go even harder.

“We should be winning by more goals and we’ve really got to take the game to teams, especially at this time of the season.

“Saturday was a stepping stone for us after the successive draws that we had against sides that we should be beating.

“We’ve all been working so hard and training very, very hard and I think it showed.”

Regular right back Ryan Jackson will be available again after missing Saturday following his recent red card against Morecambe.

Tafari Moore filled the void after coming in on loan from Plymouth and made his first league appearance in more than a year. But Jackson is expected to return to face the Bantams.

McGreal may also decide to stick with Theo Robinson up front. He got the nod over Luke Norris to start against Macclesfield following his recent loan spell with League One strugglers Southend.

The sides have not met for four seasons since Colchester did the double in 2015-2016.
