LIVERSEDGE kept the pressure on their title rivals in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division with a 4-1 home win over Garforth Town.

Oliver Fearon opened the scoring before on-loan Farsley Celtic forward Paul Walker doubled Sedge’s first half advantage. Alfie Raw tucked away a penalty early in the second half and Joe Walton added the home side’s fourth before the Miners grabbed a consolation strike through substitute Charlie Marshall.

There was also a win for Eccleshill United, 2-0 away at second from bottom Bottesford Town. Tabish Hussain, on loan from Guiseley, gave the Eagles a first-half lead and Jonny Irving ensured all three points when he hit the visitors’ second late on.

Silsden suffered a home defeat and were leapfrogged in mid-table by visitors Barton Town after the Swans took all three points with a 3-0 win at the Cobbydale Construction Stadium.

Jack Richardson volleyed Barton into a ninth minute lead and Noel Burdett doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time. The Cobbydalers had their chances but it was a rare off day for their forwards and Swans substitute Dan North put the gloss on their win with a third midway through the second half.

Campion maintained their promotion push in Division One with a dramatic late comeback to win 2-1 at home against one of their rivals.

Nostell MW were seventh going into the game and would have been level on points with the Red and Blacks had they been victorious. An away win looked to be on as Nostell took a 1-0 lead into the last five minutes courtesy of Kane Reece’s 58th minute opener.

But a late brace from Aidan Kirby turned the game on its head and it was a crucial victory for Campion as all three of the clubs above them all won.
