ILKLEY Town maintained their assault on Farsley Celtic's West Riding First Division 1 lead after they recorded a 3-2 win at Phoenix Juniors.

The Phoenix keeper made some outstanding saves to limit the visitors to just one goal before the break.

The sides then traded strikes until Ilkley gained a valuable three points in the final 10 minutes.

Heather Fisher-Pedley, Lauren Oxtoby and Jade Cubitt were all on target for the visitors.

Phoenix welcomed back their strike partnership of Ikra Ali and Henna Shaheen, in which the latter bagged a doubled after returning from a 12 month lay-off through injury.

The victory moves Tony Gill's ladies into a great position, four points off Farsley, who they already beaten, with a game in hand.

Tyersal remained pointless at the foot of the table after a 5-0 loss at seventh-placed Huddersfield Amateur.

Bradford (Park Avenue) were denied only their second point in the North East Regional League South after suffering a narrow 2-1 loss to third-placed York R.I.

Avenue were faultless in the first period with Annie Roberts spraying passes around the park at will but her teammates were unable to get that key touch in the final third to gain a lead.

Despite the muddy conditions, York carved out a number of chances, but were denied by the excellent Nic Chamberlain who made some great saves to keep her side in the game.

The visitors raced into a two goal advantage after the break though with Nat Bell's strike only coming as a late consolation.

Bradford are next in action when they entertain Bridlington Rovers at Hollingwood Lane, while there are several West Riding League derby games this Sunday.
