Caretaker-boss John Deacey has been told he can enter the loan market as he attempts to become Lee Sinnott's permanent successor at Farsley.

Deacey was in charge for the first time on Sunday when the Celts lost 4-1 at home to York and the former assistant manager would like to strengthen the squad as they hover just above the relegation zone.

Sinnott was installed as Port Vale's manager on Monday, leaving Deacey the immediate task of guiding Farsley up the Blue Square Premier table.

"We will scour the market to see if we can get some loan players in from league clubs," said Deacey.

"The situation is that there are no funds available but the rules dictate that we cannot sign anyone permanently until January anyway.

"I suppose Lee leaving is going to affect everybody but we have to make sure there is no hangover from that. We all have to buckle down and work hard.

"We have tried to keep the lads' spirits up because Lee and I have been here for four-and-a-half years and in that time we've built a great team spirit."

Celts chairman Andy Firbank has made it clear that Deacey, assisted by Carl Serrant and Mark Jackson, will be given a chance before a decision on Sinnott's replacement is made.

He said: "John, Carl and Mark have got the opportunity at the moment. They are in the driving seat so it is up to them to show us what they can do.

"We are not going to be rushed into making any snap decisions on what we are going to do next."
