GUISELEY earned a point from a tough away game at Hereford but they still dropped one place in the Vanarama National North table.

The Bulls ground staff had worked hard on the playing surface and their efforts were rewarded when the pitch at Edgar Street passed an 8.30am pitch inspection, the call had to be made early due to the travelling time from West Yorkshire for the opposition.

The Lions had announced the signing of Chris Sang on a one-month loan deal from Barnsley and the big striker was in the starting line-up. The first chance for the visitors fell to him but his fifth minute shot was over the target.

Sang, Kaine Felix and Kennedy Digie all had efforts blocked in the same incident midway through the goalless first half, but the Lions’ defence had been under pressure at times as the Bulls, spurred on by almost 2,000 home supporters, searched for an opener.

Hereford keeper Brandon Hall was needed to make a couple of good saves in the second half with Felix coming closest for the visitors. Reece Styche should have broken the deadlock for the home side but he headed over from close range.

Farsley Celtic remain the highest placed of the area’s three clubs in the division as they moved back up into the play-off places after a 2-1 home win over mid-table Leamington.

They had to come from a goal down to bank their maximum as the visitors opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Josh March headed in at the far post to convert Junior English’s deep cross.

Farsley were soon back on terms, from the penalty spot after a foul by Jack Lane, Will Hayhurst firing the resulting spot kick past Brakes keeper Jake Weaver and the teams were still level at half time.

The Celts won it in spectacular fashion as Luke Parkin netted a screamer soon after the hour mark. A ball into the area from Matty Regan was headed clear but it dropped to Parkin who lashed a shot into the top corner from the edge of the area.

Guiseley host Farsley Celtic in a festive Boxing Day derby this Thursday. The match kicks off a 3pm at Nethermoor.

* Brighouse Town took an early lead in a 3-1 win at home against Clitheroe in the Bet Victor North West.

Brighouse's Shiraz Khan netted a shot just 29 seconds into the game but the Blues were level soon after as Connor Gaul fired a free-kick into the top corner.

The sides were still locked just after the hour mark but two goals in ten minutes saw Brighouse to a comfortable 3-1 win.

Kurt Harris and Josh Grant were Town’s second half scorers.
