WEST Bowling have been given a tough trip to Featherstone Lions in the first round of the Coral Challenge Cup tonight.

Ryan Hunkin's side, who reached the third round last season, will head to the Lions on the weekend of January 11-12.

Featherstone earned promotion to the Premier Division of the National Conference League last campaign with a play-off win over Stanningley.

But Bowling will go there with confidence themselves, having been crowned NCL Division Two champions in 2019.

The Bradford outfit beat Hammersmith Hills Hoists and Ovenden before losing at League One Hunslet in last season's competition.

The Lions' most impressive Challenge Cup run came back in 1999 when they forced their way into the fourth round with victories over Queensbury, Ovenden and Hemel before being beaten by semi-professional side Halifax.
