CITY have issued a ban and suspensions to those involved in the illegal use of pyrotechnics during Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two game at Macclesfield Town.

One individual is to be handed a three-year banning order and others associated will be suspended from attending future home and away fixtures, pending further enquires.

Ryan Sparks, City’s director of communications, said: "We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to the use of pyrotechnics and Saturday’s incident was hugely disappointing.

"More than 1,400 fans made the trip to Macclesfield and our travelling support, for the most part, was superb.

"We always encourage supporters to travel to away fixtures and enjoy the occasion.

"However, as a club, we were unfortunately let down by the actions of a small number of supporters in the away end.

"We have previously been contacted by The FA regarding similar events and now face the prospect of action being taken against the club.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank West Yorkshire Police and those who came forward to assist us with our own investigations."
