YORKSHIRE will host Lancashire in one of their two Specsavers County Championship matches to be played at Scarborough next summer, with June’s out-ground Roses fixture arguably the highlight of the 2020 county fixture list released today.

The arch-rivals will meet at North Marine Road - on Sunday, June 14 - for the first time since 1991 and for only the third time in all.

It is one of a number of mouth-watering clashes White Rose supporters can look forward to next summer.

Coach Andrew Gale and co will start the season competitively against newly-promoted Championship side Gloucestershire at Emerald Headingley on Sunday, April 12, one of six four-day matches before the end of May.

They will finish the summer with a clash against 2018 Division One champions Surrey at the Kia Oval on Thursday, September 22.

Sandwiched in between is a Championship clash with Gloucestershire at Cheltenham College on Sunday, July 5, while Warwickshire also visit Scarborough for Festival week, starting on Sunday, August 23.

The return Roses clash is at Emirates Old Trafford on Tuesday, September 8.

The county’s quest for a third Championship title in seven years sees them play Kent (home), Northamptonshire (away), Somerset (away) and Warwickshire (home) only once, with Division One now including 10 teams as opposed to eight last season.

That means, with 14 fixtures, not all counties play each other twice.

Next summer’s Vitality Blast starts on Friday, May 29 as part of the rejig in schedule to accommodate the ECB’s new Hundred competition. Yorkshire begin the Blast against Durham at Emerald Headingley.

The Roses games are at Headingley on Thursday, June 4 and at Old Trafford on Friday, July 10. If Yorkshire reach Finals Day, that will be on Saturday, September 5 at Edgbaston.

The 2020 Royal London One-day Cup is not regionalised, with the Vikings facing clashes with Glamorgan at Newport on Friday, July 31 and Somerset at Taunton on Saturday, August 9.

With that competition clashing with the Hundred in mid-summer, Yorkshire are splitting their four home games equally between Scarborough and York. They also face Derbyshire away at Chesterfield, as they also do in the Blast.

There is no Roses fixture in the 50-over competition.

The final of the RL50 will take place at Trent Bridge on September 19 - the final Saturday of the summer.

The Hundred starts on Saturday, July 18, with the Headingley-based Northern Superchargers tackling the Manchester Originals at Old Trafford in a blockbuster opener.

Each team plays eight fixtures, including only their closest rivals twice. That means the return cross-Pennine clash with the Originals will take place at Headingley on Wednesday, August 5.

That day is a double header also involving the two women’s teams.

The Superchargers women start their campaign against London Spirit at Lord’s on Thursday July 23 - also a double header with the men.

Their home matches will be played at South Northumberland CC near Newcastle, Headingley and twice at York CC’s Clifton Park home, a venue which has regularly hosted Yorkshire Diamonds Super League matches in recent years.

Yorkshire’s men play their first fixture of 2020 on home soil against Leeds/Bradford MCC Universities on Thursday, April 2, a three-day friendly clash at Weetwood.
