CITY have solved their “chaos theory” as Gary Bowyer can plan a more orderly way ahead.

With the rearranged visit to Macclesfield switched again to next Saturday, the Bantams suddenly find themselves with more time on their hands than expected.

The absence of any cup ties leaves them without a midweek date before Christmas – a scenario that will give Bowyer more time on the training ground with his squad.

The City boss welcomes the regular routine after a bitty few weeks with two league games called off as well as FA Cup and Leasing.com Trophy involvement.

Bowyer said: “We spoke with the players a couple of weeks ago about having to deal with chaos. We wanted them to be prepared so that anything that happens shouldn’t come as a shock.

“The chaos has been taken away from us with the fixtures so we can now put a good month’s planning in for everybody.

“Come the turn of the year, it will be like signing new players. We need that little boost of a fresh face coming back and joining in again.”

Matty Palmer and Shay McCartan will both benefit by the extra preparation time between games. Bowyer is looking at filling his unexpected free midweek with a behind-closed-doors match to give them a run-out.

“The likes of Matty coming back after missing the best part of three months will be like a new signing, the same as Jake Reeves,” added Bowyer.

“We’re happy with how it’s progressing on that front.

“The plan is to have a full week’s training with Matty and Shay and now that we go Saturday to Saturday between games it presents us the opportunity to put on a practice match. We can control how long they play for.”

City’s FA Cup exit allowed them to ask Macclesfield to reschedule their league visit to Moss Rose once more from Tuesday to next weekend.

Bowyer said: “It helps us for sure otherwise we’d be getting back late from Plymouth and then have to go again on Tuesday.

“Putting it back has certainly made it a lot more accommodating with training as well.

“It’s really important because at one point we were looking at Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday for three weeks and I don’t think there was going to be much consideration taken into where people were putting our fixtures.

“But this gives us a chance to get in a good rhythm now.

“Some managers tell you to get out of the cup competitions as quickly as you can. Others love the romance of a cup run and I would have loved that for sure.

“But they are the cards we’ve been dealt now and our main focus is the league as it has been since the beginning of the season.”
