THACKLEY had to settle for a point in a 3-3 thriller at home to Barton Town last night.

The Dennyboys held the lead for much of their Northern Counties East League Premier Division clash.

But the visitors came from 2-0 and 3-2 down to salvage a point.

The hosts were 2-0 up inside the first half-hour thanks to goals from Asa Mitchell and Simon Poole.

Last week’s County Cup hero Mitchell - who scored four goals in the 6-1 win over Campion - put the hosts in front after 12 minutes following good work from Ben Grech-Brooksbank and Adam Muller.

And the Dennyboys increased their lead when Poole headed home a cross from Jack Boyle.

Chris Salt nodded in to pull one back for Barton and it need a good save from Thackley keeper Luke Wilson in an one-on-one to preserve their lead by half-time.

A frantic end to the clash saw three goals in the last eight minutes.

Waide Fairhurst equalised for Barton, only for Owen Murphy to put Thackley back in front on 85 minutes after a scramble from a set piece.

However, it finished all-square after Ben Hinchcliffe scored following a corner.

Liversedge progressed to the fourth round of the NCE League Cup after winning 4-2 on penalties at home to Goole.

After a goalless first half, the sides finished 2-2 at Clayborn before Sedge held their nerve from the spot.

It was another struggle for Steeton as they were hammered 8-0 by AFC Liverpool in the North West Counties League Division One North.

Coming on the back of a 5-0 thrashing at home to high-flying Emley AFC last weekend, the Chevrons were put to the sword again.

They were 3-0 down at half-time as goals came from Daniel Cockerline (2) and James McGrane.

Kyle Schorah, Mark Stephens, Luke Stephens and Anthony Lyons added further misery with goals in the second half before McGrane bagged his second.

Steeton remain bottom of the table as a result.

Meanwhile, Eccleshill United's West Riding County Cup first round tie tonight has been switched to Garforth Town.
