WIBSEY came close to winning this Yorkshire Three clash at home to Hemsworth, with a 77th-minute Andy Robinson penalty just going past the right-hand upright from 30 metres out tight to the touchline.
The shot at goal, which would have given Wibsey a 20-18 victory, had come about after a double dismissal, with Robson Moore and a visitor being sent off after a two-man brawl in which both made contact with each other's shoulders.
On a boggy Northfield Road pitch, Wibsey, who were dominant in the scrums but were not rewarded for that edge, reached half-time at 10-10, with the home team's points coming from a brace of tries by winger Bruce Mpofu.
A try by Moore two minutes after the interval, which he converted himself, seemed to be the springboard for a Wibsey win in what was a tetchy second half - with both sets of players constantly arguing with their own teammates.
But Hemsworth scored a 65th minute try and a penalty 10 minutes later, after dissent by Wibsey marched them back 10 metres to put the effort within kicking range.
Full-back Ryan Smith was Wibsey's man of the match, closely followed by centre Aiden Batey.
