CHRIS Brown claimed victory in the over 65s age group category at the Swim England National Masters Short Course Championships held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

The Sutton swimmer recorded wins in the 50m and 100m backstroke events in times of 33.09 and 1.14.58.

While also claiming a bronze (2.48.57) in the 200m event and sixth (33.49) in the 50m butterfly.

100m freestyle star, Nicola Jones, completed a top 20 finish in the 40/44 years category with a time of 1.10.85.

The City of Bradford representatives train with Bradford Council’s Leisure Services Aquatic Competition Programme.

Elsewhere, Freddy Dean was Bradford's highest placed swimmer at the Swim North East Region Age Group Championships in South Yorkshire.

The 11-year-old finished seventh (1.18.13) in the 100m backstroke, while Dean's other finishes include 10th (36.10) in the 50m backstroke and top 20 places in the 50m and 100m freestyle, 50m and 100m butterfly and 100m individual medley.

Other top ten finishes came from Jasmine Shay in the girls, 11 years, 50m butterfly and Oscar Hobson in the boys, 12 years, 100m individual medley.

A small squad of the City’s swimmers also travelled south to compete at the North East Region Open Championships in Sheffield.

John Luke Hutchinson was the teams highest placed swimmer with a sixth place finish in the 100m individual medley event and went on to achieve top 20 finishes in both the 200m breastroke and 200m individual medley.

Rebecca Dunn claimed ninth in the 200m breaststroke and top 20 places in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.

Abigail Naylor and Fraser Buxton both finished in tenth place in the 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke.

Top 20 finishes also came from Ella Jones (2), Sam Akers (2), Ellen Winters (1), Fraser Buxton (1), Louie Dove (1) and George Smith (1).

All swimmers train on the Bradford Aquatics Competition programme under the guidance of coaches Andy Pearce and Sarah Fisher.
