WYKE finished the season on a high with an awards double.

Ian Wormald secured the coach of the year award, alongside Calvin Barker who scooped the player of the year accolade for Yorkshire Men's League Division Two.

Wormald collected his award having taken the team up two divisions and successfully going unbeaten in the season.

Barker claimed his prize after picking up five man of the match awards, scoring 21 tries along the way.

These awards added to the Bradford Cup league leaders shield play-off trophy.

Wormald said: “It is fantastic that the club has continued to receive recognition for an amazing season.

"I’m extremely proud to have coached a great bunch of lads this year, alongside a fantastic coaching and backroom team.

"It’s safe to say that Calvin fully deserves his award and has without a doubt been the best player in our league this season.

"The coaching award is definitely a team award having put out two teams this year this award is not mine but belongs to the fantastic group of coaches we have in the open age and it’s great that the hard work and dedication from us all is rewarded."

Chairman John Rayner added: "Congratulations to Calvin and Ian on winning their awards they are both thoroughly deserved and are the icing on the cake for what has been a fantastic year for the Wyke Open age squad."
