THE Bradford district's weekend sports fixtures were virtually wiped out as rain swept through the area.

There were waterlogged pitches galore across Bradford on Saturday as only Bradford (Park Avenue's) clash with Southport in Vanarama National League North and Keighley RU's home date with Leodiensian survived the wet weather.

Neither side will wish they did, however, as both our teams were beaten.

The most high-profile of our games to fall victim to the rain was Bradford City's trip to Macclesfield Town on League Two.

The Met Office said much of northern England and the east Midlands were struck by 25 to 60mm of rain in a 30-hour period leading into Saturday.
