WIBSEY recovered from trailing 3-0 and 6-3 to record a fourth win of the season, defeating high-flying Harrogate Pythons, who were strong in the scrum, 17-13 at Northfield Road in Yorkshire Division Three.
Tries for the hosts came from replacement Scott Smith and No 8 Michael Kite, with Robson Moore converting both of them and Andy Robinson adding a penalty.
Speaking after the win, a satisfied Robinson said: “As in the week before at Sheffield Medicals, our defence won the match for us.
“It is something that we are working on in training and will be important as the pitches get wetter.”
Back-rower Adam Jefferson was voted as Wibsey’s man of the match. The win moved them up to fifth, while defeat saw Harrogate drop a couple of places to sixth.
