GARY Bowyer is hoping City can start to clean up again as they prepare for a team who have scored in every League Two game.

The 2-1 victory at Morecambe lifted the Bantams into the top three for the first time.

But the home side’s consolation goal in added-on time extended a run of keeping only one clean sheet in the last 11 outings.

It is a source of irritation for City going into Saturday's Valley Parade clash with Crawley, especially after they had begun the season by conceding only once in four games.

Bowyer said: “We kept three clean sheets out the first four, so we know we are capable of it. Saturday’s one was really frustrating for Richard (O’Donnell) and the back four.

“We were disappointed we didn’t manage a clean sheet but we knew Morecambe would keep going to the end. We knew that would happen and had to deal with it.

“The timing of it wasn’t great. But we’ve still got loads to work on and get better with and that’s the exciting bit.”

Ben Richards-Everton is available again to bolster the back four after serving his three-game ban. Kelvin Mellor may also have a chance of returning after missing out at the Globe Arena with a minor knee problem.

But fellow defenders Tyler French and Jackson Longridge are both still out with hamstring injuries.

Crawley bounced back from successive losses with a come-from-behind win over Colchester to go ninth.

But Gabriele Cioffi’s side have failed to score only once so far – in the Leasing.com Trophy – and Bowyer is well aware of their threat.

The City boss said: “I said at the start of the season that there will be teams who don’t get the credit they deserve from people. They are one of them.

“The way they’ve recruited, how they play and where they are in the league already. They are going to be in the mix with everybody else.

“We’ve watched them and are aware of the challenge it’s going to present on Saturday.”
