BRADFORD City's Paudie O'Connor has missed out on the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month award for September, with a fellow defender, Walsall's James Clarke, scooping the prize.

O'Connor was part of a Bantams side that won three league games during the month, as they began to climb the table after an inconsistent start to the season.

He was part of the defence that kept an impressive clean sheet at Walsall in a 1-0 win, and he even popped up with two goals, including a vital 88th minute winner against Northampton at Valley Parade.

Clarke also netted twice, although his goals were quite something for a centre-back. One was a 30-yard howitzer at Crawley Town and the other a bicycle kick against Scunthorpe United.

Those efforts, combined with the fact that he helped his side keep three clean sheets, saw him deservedly pick up the prize.

There was also disappointment for popular former Bantams striker Nahki Wells. He netted four goals for QPR during September, but missed out on the Championship Player of the Month award to Wigan's Chey Dunkley.
