TRAVEL

The main concern for the big day is how to get there, how long it will take to get there, and where on earth you’re going to park.

Train: It takes one hour and 23 minutes to catch a Northern train from Bradford Interchange to Preston, with fans then needing to change onto a Virgin Train from Preston to Lancaster.

You'll then need to catch the number four (Lancaster University) bus to the bus station, which takes around six minutes.

You will be dropped off at Stand 10, so will need to make the short hop over to Stand 12, where the 6A (Morecambe) bus takes you directly to the Globe Arena, after a 27-minute journey.

Car: Using the Interchange as our starting point again, it takes around three miles to get on the M606 from the A650 and the A6177/Rooley Lane.

After that, the motorways are your friend when it comes to making your way to Morecambe. After reaching the M606, you will quickly merge on to the M62, where you will stay for around 27 miles.

Continue on to the M60 for about four miles, before, at junction 15, taking the M61 exit to M6 N/Preston/Wigan/Bolton.

Continue on to the M61, then keep left at the fork to stay on there and follow signs for Preston.

Your final motorway journey will see you merge on to the M6 and keep right to stay on there for 19 miles. After that, take the A683 exit towards Lancaster.

You're almost there now, so just continue on Bay Gateway/A683 then turn right on to the A589 after 2.9 miles. Drive on there for around half a mile, take the first exit on to Westgate, where a 1.3-mile drive will take you to the Globe Arena.

The whole journey should, traffic permitting, only take an hour and 34 minutes.

PARKING

Fans can park for free on Buckingham Road (LA4 4LU) or Osborne Road (LA4 4LS), which are both half-a-kilometre and just under a 10-minute walk from the ground.

Alternatively, the local Westgate Primary School (LA4 4XF) operates a matchday car park. It is slightly closer, at only a five minutes walk away. Although it does cost £5 to park there, all proceeds go towards funding for the school.

PUBS

On the seafront, around a 10-minute walk away from the stadium, is a dedicated away fans bar called The Boardwalk.

There is a barbecue and a rooftop terrace open exclusively for away fans, with big screens showing the early kick-offs, and entertainment before and after the matches.

It is family-friendly and with pints at under £2.50. There is also a bus stop located conveniently outside the bar which drops off outside the ground. The final bus before the match is at 2.35pm.

The Boardwalk also has a number of hotel rooms available for £40 per night B&B, so call 07891 813640 for more information.

Just outside the stadium entrance is a modern Marston's pub called the Hurley Flyer. Family-friendly and offering food too, it has its own car park which costs £10 before the game, but this can be refunded against a food purchase.

Otherwise, the closest bar that admits away supporters is on the Regent Leisure Holiday Park. This is situated just a few minutes walk away from the stadium along Westgate. You can also park at the Caravan Park at a cost of £3 per vehicle.

If you turn left out of the stadium entrance, then around a 10-minute walk away (opposite a Lidl on Westgate) is the William Mitchell pub, which also shows Sky Sports.

If driving to the stadium from the direction of Lancaster you will also pass a Toby Carvery which offers reasonably priced food.

If arriving by train then you may care to try a Wetherspoons outlet in the town centre, called the Eric Bartholomew on Euston Road or on the sea front, the Station Promenade pub, which also has a Wacky Warehouse for the young children.

Meanwhile, opposite the town's iconic Eric Morecambe statue is the Kings Arms, which upstairs has four pool tables, two darts boards, three televisions and a table football game.

It also does breakfast and is only a £5 taxi ride to the ground.

Near to the Morecambe's old ground, Christie Park, is the York Hotel. It lays on a £1 double-decker bus in matchdays to take fans to the new stadium from the hotel.

Otherwise, alcohol is served inside the stadium in the form of 500ml plastic bottles of Carlsberg Lager, Tetley's Bitter and Strongbow Cider (all £3.20).
