WOMEN'S football last weekend was again disrupted due to the weather, and Bradford City were left wishing their FA Cup clash at Barnsley was one of those abandoned by rain, as they slipped to a humbling 5-1 defeat.

It was all over by the break in this Second Qualifying Round tie, as City found themselves 4-0 behind thanks to goals from Amy Woodruff (2), Kath Smith and Lissa Woodhouse.

Bantams captain Zoe Roberts scored a fantastic free-kick to pull one back just after the hour mark, but Sophie Bell soon added a fifth for the South Yorkshire side.

Goalkeeper Ella Jacobs made some fine saves on her debut for City while Falone Sumaili received the Bantams' Player of the Match award from Barnsley.

Phoenix were also 4-0 down at half-time, in their West Riding County Women's Football League Cup Qualifying Round game against Ilkley Town at Ben Rhydding.

Henna Shaheen and skipper Ikra Ali were on target for the visitors, but Town won 8-2, including four goals from the prolific Rebecca Gill.

Phoenix' next opponents are Huddersfield Amateur in a WRCWFL First Division game at Laisteridge Lane.

Elsewhere, Farsley Juniors First beat Hemsworth Town 12-0, including three goals each from Sarah Lawn, Jas Cooper and Cam Kerford.

Next Sunday, Bradford (Park Avenue) are on the road, as they go up against Sheffield Wednesday in an North East Regional Women's Football League Southern Division game at Bawtry Road.

There is also some more FA Cup action.

Farsley Celtic entertain Liverpool Feds, after their game had to be curtailed halfway through, and Brighouse Town travel to FC United of Manchester in a delayed Second Qualifying Round tie.

If successful, both teams have an away tie in the next round, due to be played October 27.
