THORNTON'S impressive season in the Spenser Wilson Halifax Cricket League Premier Division has seen two players recognised for their fine individual achievements.
Josh Hutchinson's batting achievements have been well-documented, with his 314 not out against Shelf Northowram Hedge Top the highest score in English club cricket this season.
He picked up the Premier Division's batting award after scoring 1,037 runs overall at an average of 74.07.
However, wicket-keeper Ryan Brooksbank's achievements have gone under the radar. He recorded 19 dismissals (joint-best with Mytholmroyd's Jacob Travis), taking 15 catches and administering four stumpings.
In the First Division, Clayton's Mitesh Mistry secured the bowling award by taking 39 wickets at 12.05, while Great Horton Park Chapel's Ryan Frankland-Martin was crowned top fielder with 4.5 marks.
James Broadbent was the top keeper in the Second Division with 20 dismissals (13 catches and seven stumpings) for Queensbury, while his counterpart in the second XI First Division, Julian Kirkby, won that league's award with eight catches and eight stumpings.
There was a tinge of sadness associated with the bowling award in that division. Ishtiaq Hussain of Bradley & Colnebridge secured 29 wickets at an average of just 5.93 to scoop the prize, but sadly passed away of a heart attack during the season.
Finally, in the second XI Second Division, Clayton's Andrew Sutcliffe topped the batting stats with 524 runs at 65.50, and he was also the joint-best fielder in the league, picking up five marks.
