JOHN Kear admits he remains sceptical with talk about the Bulls building a new home in Bradford until he can see proof.

Kear has applauded the early season-ticket sales for next year’s move to Dewsbury – which are 20 per cent up on the same period 12 months ago.

But the Bulls coach revealed that past experiences have coloured his views on the belief that the club will return to their home city.

Kear said: “I would like to see us playing in Bradford, there’s no doubt about that.

“We’ve examined every possibility and we can’t. So, we’re doing what best fits us at this point in time.

“But obviously there has to be a timeframe of when we are going to return to the city because we are a Bradford club.

“Perhaps I’m a bit cynical but until I see floodlights going up and stands being erected, I always find it difficult to believe.

“I’m a bit sceptical with regards to new stadiums.

“I’ve been involved with clubs who have got them but that’s been very much council-led at Hull FC and Wigan.

“I’ve also been involved in others who have been promised stadiums and it hasn’t happened.

“We were told in 2006 that Wakefield would be moving and they still haven’t got a new stadium.”

But while the Bulls wait impatiently for the RFL to lift the special measures, Kear has been buoyed by news of the ticket take-up at the Tetley’s Stadium.

“It is heartening to see that,” he added. “I’m pretty certain the fans will stick with us.

“There is that banner that says, ‘where you play, we will follow’, and it’s really good.

“From the performance department point of view, we’d like to thank them for showing that faith in us.

“We’d like to think that when we come out of special measures and can recruit, we can have a small squad but a competitive one.”
