FLYING winger Dylan Connolly has promised City fans that he has got a lot more to come.

Connolly stole the show in the 3-1 victory over Carlisle that lifted Gary Bowyer’s side back into a League Two play-off spot.

The Irishman’s pace was the highlight as the Bantams made it three wins out of four, including successive comeback triumphs at Valley Parade.

And the on-loan Wimbledon wide man insists there is plenty more to come.

He said: “That’s just me doing my job, getting at the full back and trying to produce some sort of assist or a chance for the strikers or midfielders.

“That was my fourth game in a row and I can feel myself getting stronger. I’m getting involved more and hopefully making things happen.

“You get more clever with games so hopefully I can get more assists as well as some goals as I kick on now.”

The Bantams again conceded first at home but bounced back as they had done a fortnight earlier against Northampton.

Bowyer admitted he enjoyed watching Connolly as much as the fans did.

The City boss said: “I’m old-fashioned, I grew up watching probably the greatest winger ever in John Robertson at Nottingham Forest and it’s stayed with me.

“He was slightly different and not as quick as Dylan. But it’s a great way to watch football.”

Connolly had set up City’s opener in last week’s loss at Cheltenham with another speedy counter-attack. He is relishing his responsibility to get at defenders and put opposing teams on the back foot.

“It’s a good asset to have when a team have direct wingers who just run at people and get up the pitch,” he added.

“If I wasn’t doing that, I wouldn’t be out there. I’ve got to keep level-headed and confident.

“I feel that I’ve got a chance against any full back with the pace I’ve got.

“I have to be confident in my running and be willing to take them on.

“If I don’t get past him the first time then I try to do it the second.

“You always put the team first and I just want to win as many games as we can.”

Bowyer still wants to see more end product from his game and Connolly admitted: “I should have scored and done better with a few crosses. But that gives me something to work on in training during the week.

“I know I can improve if I keep working hard every day. All I can do is try to get better.

“When there are 15,000 fans coming to watch, you want to pay them back.

“Working hard is a given and then we’ve got to perform in a good way every week, especially every home game.”
