JAMES Hanson has today been named League Two’s player of the month for August.
The former City striker scored five goals and claimed three assists in his first month as a Grimsby player.
Hanson, who opened his account with the equaliser against his old club at Blundell Park, has helped Grimsby to their best start to a season for almost 20 years.
He said: “When you come to a new club you always try and hit the ground running, and thankfully I’ve done that so far."
The manager of the month award has also gone to someone with a Bantams connection.
Matt Taylor, who had a brief injury-hit spell at Valley Parade, got the award for steering Exeter to the top of the table.
