THACKLEY came from behind to earn their first Northern Counties East League Premier Division victory of the season as they won 2-1 at neighbours Silsden.

It was the first competitive league meeting between the sides following the Cobbydalers' switch from the North West Counties competition in the summer.

Silsden took the lead after 22 minutes from the penalty spot after Josh Kaine hit the bar and Harrison Hardisty-Blackwell was brought down.

Aiden Kirby slotted home spot-kick but Thackley were level shortly before the break. A long ball was flicked on and Jack Normanton got in front of keeper Alfie Darke to make it 1-1.

The Dennyboys then took the lead on 64 minutes when the ball was nodded down to former Eccleshill ace Charlie Flaherty, who struck home his first goal for his new club.

Laurence Surhaindo hit the bar as the Cobbydalers sought in vain to get back into the game.

Liversedge were the other local side to earn three points in the NCEL Premier as they beat Penistone Church 1-0 at home thanks to a goal from Joe Walton after ten minutes.

But there was no joy for Eccleshill as they lost 2-0 at AFC Mansfield.
