EOIN Doyle has joined Swindon on a season-long loan.

The City striker, bought to replace Charlie Wyke last summer, was top scorer in their relegation from League One with 11 goals.

He had been linked with Swindon and Blackpool during the summer but had started the first three games, playing the full 90 minutes in the Carabao Cup loss to Preston at Valley Parade on Tuesday.

Doyle is likely to be available for Swindon’s game against Exeter tomorrow.

Upon joining Swindon, Doyle told the club’s official website: “I’m excited to go and happy to be here.

“I’ve played under the manager (Richie Wellens) before so know what he’s about and looked at the squad he’s built so far, it’s young and energetic which is positive, and I’m looking forward to adding to it.”

Town boss Wellens added: “Eoin’s a player that we expect to score goals at this level. He scored 30 with Chesterfield when he played in this division previously.

“We believe he could play in the league above which is why we spent so long trying to sign him.”

Meanwhile, a charity partly named after Bantams legend Stephen Darby will take pride of place on one of Swindon Town's shirts this season.

Swindon's purple-coloured third choice shirt will feature the Darby-Rimmer MND Foundation as its lead sponsor.

Founded by Darby, who also played for Swindon, and ex-serviceman Chris Rimmer, the Darby-Rimmer MND Foundation is seeking to raise money to help fight motor neurone disease

Darby was diagnosed with the disease last year and last month's friendly between City and Liverpool, which the Champions League holders won 3-1, raised £275,422.16 for the foundation.

The prestigious friendly attracted a gate of 24,343 - the Bantams' biggest crowd since Valley Parade re-opened in 1986.
