THE Bulls’ contract discussions have been on hold while they decided where they will be based next year.

The club announced last night they would be moving to Dewsbury and John Kear admitted the uncertainty over leaving Odsal has impacted his decision-making over the players whose deals run out at the end of the season.

Kear said: “We really couldn’t do anything until we knew where we were playing and where we’re placed.

“We know full well we can’t go any lower than seventh so you can make provisional budgetary arrangements.

“But we didn’t know where we were playing. Obviously that has a big effect as well.

“Playing out of Odsal is a massive drain on the resources.”

The head coach may consider trimming squad numbers for next season.

“There’s bound to be some comings and goings. We’ve had a big squad and we may well choose to go with a smaller number of more established players.

“But we can’t do anything about that until I know what the budget is and what I can deal with.”
