WITH 14 clubs in 12 years, Laurent Banide would seem well qualified for the Oldham revolving door.

The latest Latics head coach arrived for his first job in England last month via Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Frenchman Banide can also boast developing the likes of Thierry Henry, Yaya Toure and David Trezeguet on his CV during his time working in the academy at Monaco.

But making it a success of it at Oldham would top the lot after a tumultuous time for the Lancashire club.

Banide joined on a one-year contract last month after succeeding Paul Scholes, who walked away after just a month at the helm and allegedly resigned by text.

He is the fifth different manager since owner Abdallah Lemsagam bought the club 19 months ago.

The Moroccan football agent’s tenure has been a controversial one and Scholes claimed he quit because of interference in team selection and potential signings.

Banide has not enjoyed the best start with two losses in the league against Forest Green and Crewe.

Oldham were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup at Blackburn in dramatic fashion after the Championship side scored twice in stoppage time.

Banide admitted: “It’s difficult, but it’s football and we must accept it. We didn’t play well in the last 10 minutes and we conceded two goals and against a big team, we paid the price.

“Our level is not enough at the moment and I’m very sad for the supporters because they have been with us and we must fight until the end to get a result.”

Former Bolton and Millwall centre half David Wheater has missed the last two games with a muscle injury.

“I can’t take a risk because we need to think about the future," added Banide.

Oldham have won their last two visits to Valley Parade in the Football League Trophy.
