GUISELEY warmed up for the new season in style with a 6-0 victory over South Shields in their final friendly, including four for Gabriel Johnson.

The Lions roared into an eight-minute lead at Nethermoor through Johnson. They double their advantage in the 29th minute when great work from Kaine Felix found Aram Soleman, who finished well.

They made it 3-0 nine minutes before the break via Johnson. He completed his hat-trick a minute before the interval to make it 4-0.

Soleman secured his brace on 54 minutes to make it 5-0.

But it would be Johnson who would steal the headlines as he grabbed his fourth in the 68th minute.

Meanwhile, a second Guiseley side had a friendly run-out at the same time at Hyde United.

But it wasn't such a good result for the Lions in Greater Manchester, as they crashed to a 4-0 reverse.

Meanwhile, Silsden ended their pre-season with a 3-1 defeat at home to Charnock Richard.

The visitors stormed to a 3-0 lead through Oliver Oxley (2) and a brace from Carl Grimshaw (64, 73).

The Cobbydalers' consolation came courtesy of striker Laurence Sohaindo nine minutes from time.

Lee Alam's Eccleshill United crashed to a 5-1 defeat at Pontefract Collieries.

The Eagles found themselves 5-0 down before an unnamed trialist was brought down in the box and scored the penalty himself for Eccleshill's consolation strike.

Thackley closed their pre-season friendly programme with a 1-0 defeat to Tadcaster Albion.

The Dennyboys fell to defeat via a 29th-minute strike from Jake Day.

Adam Lakeland's Farsley Celtic wrapped up their preparations for the forthcoming season with a 4-0 win against Albion Sports at The Citadel.

After a number of missed chances for the hosts, Jimmy Spencer did give Celtic the lead on the half-hour mark, as the score remained 1-0 at the half-time interval.

Farsley grabbed three further goals during the second period, with tow of them within the opening five minutes.

After one minute Adam Clayton tapped in after a goalmouth scramble, with Chris Atkinson scoring another a couple of minutes later.

Will Hayhurst completed the scoring on the hour mark with a 20-yard effort.
