GUISELEY lost out to EFL opposition for the second time in three days after they were beaten by League Two Scunthorpe United.

The Lions, who lost to Championship side Leeds United last Thursday, suffered a 2-0 loss to Paul Hurst's side at Nethermoor on Saturday.

Despite a bright start from Guiseley, it was Scunthorpe who took a 39th-minute lead through striker Lee Novak.

The Iron doubled their lead just four minutes later through John McAtee.

A host of changes were made during the second period, including a number of trialists playing for Guiseley, who continue their pre-season preparations on Tuesday night with a trip to Vanarama National League side Harrogate Town.

Meanwhile, Silsden fell to their second 7-1 friendly defeat in seven days as they were beaten at home by Hyde United.

Danny Forrest's Cobbydalers fell 1-0 behind to the Evo-Stik League Premier Division side after just two minutes and their afternoon then went from bad to worse, despite being 2-1 down after the opening few minutes.

Steeton drew 1-1 at Kirk Deighton Rangers but have also announced a number of new recruits and new signings.

Former Guiseley striker Kayle Price, who scored against Deighton, has signed for the Chevrons, as has former Barnoldswick Town striker Bailey Coates.

Roy Mason's side have also re-signed a number of players. These are; Allistair Morgan, Michael Armitage, George Tidswell, Aaron Davis, Tim Hird, Sam Rooke, Toby Rawcliffe, Jack Richmond and Tom Leach.

Eccleshill United have signed four new players. Goalkeeper Brad Emmerson, full-back Tyler Marsha, defender Kesi Omolokun and winger Jacob Buchanan have all joined the Eagles. Aran Basi is the club's new captain.

Farsley Celtic suffered a 1-0 home defeat to FC Halifax Town in a friendly clash on Saturday.
