Bradford (Park Avenue) have announced the departure of highly-rated Conor Branson to Altrincham for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old joins Avenue's National League North play-off rivals after a fine season, which saw him win the League's player of the month in March.

The T&A understands that a number of clubs were interested in Branson, who can play in midfield or central defence, and that Bradford have secured a healthy fee.

A club statement read: "Bradford (Park Avenue) can today confirm that a transfer request of midfielder Conor Branson to Altrincham FC has been accepted for an undisclosed fee.

"The club would like to thank Conor and wish him the best with his move.

"Bradford (Park Avenue) would also like to thank Altrincham FC for their professional standards and business approach during these negotiations.

"The club continues to be busy in the close season and will be announcing further squad recruitment news ahead of the pre-season campaign."

Branson scored 12 goals in 43 appearances last season, helping Avenue to the play-offs, which saw them bow out against Spennymoor Town.

His efforts saw him rewarded with an extended contract in February until the end of the 2019-20 campaign after he had joined the Horsfall club at the start of last season, having impressed on trial.

The ex-Barnsley under-18s captain, who had a spell with Guiseley before playing in America, also won the manager's player of the year under Mark Bower.

Garry Thompson, who has taken over in the hot seat from Bower, has brought in four players so far.

Ben Hedley, Matty Clarke, Jon Moran and Alex Laird are the new faces to date.
