PHOENIX'S hopes of ending the season with a trophy were dashed as they lost 3-2 to Leeds United Development in the West Riding County Women's League Supplementary Cup final.
The Bradford side went ahead early in the game through top scorer Megan Medley and enjoyed a good first half, with a defence led by Jade Cosheril limiting Leeds' chances and keeper Claire Graham making some good saves.
However, midway through the half Katie Astle scored a well-finished equaliser and Leeds took the lead just before the break as Megan Smith sprinted down the right wing, cut in and beat the keeper at the near post.
The second half saw Leeds having the majority of play, culminating in a powerful third goal by Emily Sykes.
With 10 minutes to go, Medley pulled a goal back for Phoenix, leading to a thrilling finale with chances at both ends as Leeds held out.
