IT was the second Northern Senior League this weekend held at Wavertree and St Helens Sutton A.C. continued their dominance with another team win of 376 points, with Liverpool Harriers in 2nd (368) and Manchester H & AC in 3rd (338).

The first track event of the day was the women’s 400m Hurdles with Karen Marsh scoring the first points for Sutton in 3rd going on to compete in 5 other events. Jon-Jo Doherty showed he was made to jump with 2nd in the 400mH and a win in the 3k steeplechase, alongside Greg Williams scoring well in the B string.

Kelly Hamilton and Amy Corfield made their Sutton track debuts for 2019 with strong runs in both the 800m & 1500m. Heather Drillingcourt was a big point scorer taking on the sprints, jumps and both relays, while Jade Smith though carrying an injury managed a 1min20 PB and some good points in the 3km.

Patricia Spark and Julia Hayes hammered home the points across the throws.

Darren Scott, Luca Noonan, Jonathan Causer, and Will Beesley conquered the men’s sprints with Michael Causer also lending a hand while he dominated the jumps.

In the men’s distances race Sutton dominated with Matt Crehan playing mind games in the 800m and 5k and the duo of Charlie Roberts and David Dwigg going one, two in the 1500m, Jake Healey and Ian Roberts both 2nd in the 800m and 5k respectively.

Rounding out the women’s sprints teams where Celine Virton and Jessica Leonard who both had fantastic races to score more points for Sutton, while Michael Hughes, Ian Conway and Ray Vose dealt heavy blows with big points in the men’s throws.

The day was rounded out with a dominating win by Sutton’s men’s 4x400m relay team.

Earlier in the week Jon-Jo Doherty showed his great versatility with a 4th place finish in a top field at the Leo Pollard Memorial 7 mile Fell Race and Matt Crehan raced at the Flat Out 5000m in London running a PB of 14:42 for the track, followed later in the week with another 14:42 at the Podium 5k out on the roads.
