BRADFORD & BINGLEY'S experienced captain Matthew Duce has declared no side should be underestimated in the top flight of the Bradford Premier League.

Duce's men are going well in the Premier Division and sit pretty in fourth, despite struggling last season.

Solid recruitment over the winter is paying dividends for B&B, says Duce, with the likes of Graham Whiles and Daniel Revis coming in.

Duce said: "We were able to strengthen the batting and bowling quite substantially.

"We felt we did quite a good job with that really in the recruitment and went into the season feeling quite optimistic with the talent and the ability in the team.

"That doesn't always dictate results, but so far we've performed reasonably well and we've put in some decent performances and got close on one occasion against Pudsey St Lawrence - the reigning champions."

B&B are aiming to get to the very top, but Duce has no qualms in admitting how tough the league is.

He said: "We've got a good group of players that are keen - keen to learn, keen to succeed.

"Of course, it would be a great thing for the club if we were able to actually do what we set out to do and be right up there challenging for the league towards the back end of the season."

The next hurdle in the way of B&B are early strugglers Undercliffe, who impressed in Championship One last season before they were promoted to the top division for this campaign.

In the theme of the league though, Duce said his side cannot underestimate this weekend's visitors or anyone else in the league for that matter.

He added: "We fell foul to East Bierley last year, who were very much down-and-out in the league.

"But we underestimated them a little bit and thought we were just going to walkover and beat them.

"We ended up getting humiliated really by them.

"The people that are still involved this year, that were involved in that last year, have learnt that actually you cannot underestimate any team in this league.

"It can come back to bite you and you can lose games you ought to win.

"We've got to make sure every game we're playing, we're doing a professional job and we're doing the right things with the bat and the ball and in the field."

Elsewhere in the division, leaders Wrenthorpe will hope to pull away from Woodlands, in second, who sit on the exact same points total for the season.

The former host fancied New Farnley, who have yet to get going, with Woodlands travelling to eighth-placed Townville.

Cleckheaton take on reigning champions Pudsey St Lawrence, who counted on the talents of Yorkshire youngster Jordan Thompson in their last fixture.

Methley will host Hanging Heaton, while Lightcliffe take on Farsley.
