ROUTE One Rovers have tasted silverware success in the 87th and final West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division Cup.

The Bradford-based side came up against a strong Littletown team on Saturday, who pushed league champions Golcar United all the way during the season.

A 4-2 victory for Rovers put paid to any trophy hopes for Littletown.

In the space of a few weeks, they have seen three potential titles slip from their grasp.

An insurmountable gap in the league was followed up by a loss in the final of the Heavy Woollen Challenge Cup.

That defeat would have impacted Littletown's preparations for their League Cup fixture, coming just two days before they played Route One Rovers.

It was a stamina-testing effort in the first final too against Gildersome Spurs, with the tie going the full way

Littletown were then defeated by eight goals to seven in the penalty shoot-out.

Originally they were meant to have a week's break before their second successive final.

But, the tie was brought forward due to Ramadan.

Littletown's players looked jaded in the first-half as Rovers took a 2-0 lead heading into the break, thanks to goals from Waheed Khan and Danyal Yasin.

Adam Jordan and Paddy Sykes helped Littletown battle back to draw level in the second period.

But Route One Rovers finished the stronger of the two and were able to avoid a repeat of the 5-0 drubbing they received at the hands of Littletown in the league on April 27.

Goals from Awais Khan and Simni Oyebadji took the final scoreline to 4-2.

Littletown's dismay deja vu was Rovers's jubilation who won the cup for the first time.

With league positions already settled, the final league game between Champions Golcar and runners-up Littletown has been postponed.
