GARY Bowyer will start to outline his blueprint for City today by deciding on which players still have a role after relegation.

Bowyer has organised chats with each member of the current squad to make it clear if they are in his plans for League Two.

The Bantams boss has already talked about the massive overhaul he is preparing for in readiness for next season.

The picture will become clearer once he has sorted out who he wants to stay or go.

Bowyer stressed at the weekend that some had played their last game in a City shirt – and now he is ready to get cracking on shaping his own team.

He said: “After the meetings, the work will continue that is already started to bring in my team.

“I know what they are going to get and what I’m going to get from them.

“In an ideal world, I’d like them all in for June 24 when we report back (for pre-season training).

“Realistically you don’t get your team until that window shuts and you’re already four or five games into the season.

“You might get lucky and pick one or two up that have tried to wait until the window shuts and then find themselves out of work. But you’d like to have your squad as early as you can.”

Sixteen of the squad are still under contract at Valley Parade for at least another year.

But City fans are expecting to see a fair number of players moving on as Bowyer looks to make his impact.

“I’ll be speaking to everybody,” he added.

“One or two might fancy their chances of staying in the division and may knock on my door and say they don’t want to play in League Two.

“It’s up to them and their agents.

“But I’m going to be informing them of my feelings and which way I want to go.”

Despite officially going down at Easter, Bowyer had made it clear to the players that he would not be giving anything away about his thinking until the season was over.

He did not want the focus in the dressing room to be affected in fixtures that still had an impact on the relegation picture.

The City boss said: “I’ve not sensed that happening. I’ve not allowed for it either.

“I said to them two weeks ago that this was the plan.

“We’d get the end of the season out of the way because I felt we had an obligation to the other teams around in the fight not to distract from the games going on.

“I didn’t want anybody to knock on my door beforehand because once you tell one person, they tell another and before you know it that’s distracted you from what was important which was the end of the season.”
