WIBSEY showed character and "bouncebackability" to grab a victory which sees them climb a spot away from relegation.

The side's Premier Division opponents should know by now never to write Wibsey off.

Before the weekend's fixtures, Wibsey had immediately followed a quarter of their losses with wins this season.

Last week, the relegation candidates succumbed to a 9-1 loss at home to Farsley Celtic, which meant the visitors were crowned as champions.

But, it was a different story in another home game, this time against Alwoodley, where they secured a vital three points in a 4-2 victory.

After last week's drubbing in which Wibsey were four down inside 20 minutes, it was they who started much the better and flew into a 4-0 lead inside 30 minutes.

Danny O'Donnell started and finished the Wibsey scoring in the 5th and the 30th minutes with goals from Marcus Harper and Ethan Labad sandwiched in between.

Alwoodley got back in the game just before half-time from a Dino Mulavdic penalty and they gave it a real go in the second half.

They scored a second on the hour through Graham Shaw.

Mark House in the Wibsey goal pulled off two great saves to preserve the Wibsey lead.

The win means Wibsey move to fourth bottom, but they are still only two points clear of the relegation zone.

In the basement division, Tyersal Reserves did their slim promotion hopes a favour with a 5-1 win at home to Old Centralians.

The visitors were never really in the game and goals for Raymond Coleman, William Lowther, Luke Dyson, James McCoughlan and Lewis Oddy mean Tyersal sit six points off second with two games in hand and three left to play.

A postponed fixture for third-placed Idle in Division One, and wins for both Amaranth Crossgates and Collegians, meant the pair went three points clear.

In Division Three, Prospect continued their unbeaten streak in the league, despite not having anything to play for in the league.

Too many draws has been the issue for Prospect, with the spoils shared four out of five times in their recent run.

This time, they added a win at home to Farnley Sports beating them two goals to one.

It took until the 80th minute for Prospect to restore parity after an early Farnley goal, when Liam Goodaire found space from left back to come into the box and score a curling effort.

This spurred Prospect to go through the gears and, after Steve Thwaites won the ball back, he played it into Jordon Farrell who then drove the ball into the area for Kingsley Rowe to score the winner.
