A SEVEN star showing for Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Divsion side Athletico in a relegation showdown should ease their worries of the drop.

The Bradford-side were lingering a point above the bottom two before their crunch six-pointer at home to eleventh-placed Ealandians.

Athletico knew a win against their relegation rivals would catapult them four clear of the drop-zone, but four losses in a row left them on shaky ground.

Thankfully they came up against an Ealandians side who have never really been in form at all this season and were without a single point in five games.

The hosts didn't disappoint and secured a 7-1 win.

Atheltico's emphasis has always been on attack and this prevailed as the skilful sharp-shooter Mohammed Qasim notched four goals to take him to 23 for the season.

Mohammed Raaj, Mahine Malik and Sajid Ali got the other three.

The win sees Athletico leapfrog Wibsey into ninth-place after their 9-1 loss at home to Farsley Celtic Juniors, who secured their status as champions with that victory.

It's cup action on the cards for Athletico next and will face fellow Premier side Calverley United in the Bradford & District Cup Semi-Final next Monday.

In Division One, a second win on the trot for Idle put them in a commanding position in the promotion battle, while simultaneously putting a dent in Collegians' own hopes.

The top three now all sit level on 40 points each - with various fixtures left to play - thanks to Idle's 4-2 away victory.

Idle took the lead through an Aaron Irving diving header but Collegians managed to draw level before the interval.

A quick start to the second half was rewarded when Irving struck again.

Jack Strudwick added a venomous 30 yard free kick in the 59th, but a minute later Jordan Broadbent was sent off for the visitors.

They battled hard though and were rewarded in the 66th minute with a fourth goal thanks to Ash Maitland.

In the Division above, St Bede's are drifting further away from a promotion spot after a 7-3 loss at home to leaders Gildersome Spurs.

They were 3-0 down after 20 minutes and the tide never really changed from there.

Fairbank United have all but secured a fourth-placed finish in Division Two.

A 2-1 home win against Leeds City Reserves puts them 13 points clear of their visitors who are the only side that can possibly catch Fairbank with four games in hand.

In Division Three, mid-table Prospect played out a 3-3 home draw with second-placed Norristhorpe.

This is the fourth time in a row the hosts have shared the spoils in the league which says much about the side's season.

Jordan Farrell scored a brace, alongside a Patrick Green goal, to secure a point for Prospect.
