TORRENTIAL rain put paid to several games in the West Riding County Amateur Football League including a clash of the titans at the top.

Littletown, in third before the weekend, would have hoped to drag themselves closer to second-placed TVR United with a victory in their fixture, but the weather put a halt to that.

3G pitches were the saviour for four of the league's clubs though.

It was two high-scoring affairs with PFC narrowly losing out by five goals to four at home to Steeton Reserves in one of the ties.

Come the break, it was honours even at 2-2 but Steeton put three more past their hosts in the second period, with only two goals in reply.

Ben Martin's treble for PFC was in vain, thanks to strikes from Jack Morrell, Andy Howard, Alistair Morgan and a brace for Arron Hollingdrake for the visitors.

In the only other fixture in the league, Ryburn United smashed six past hosts Toller to move into third in the league.

Toller managed to retrieve some of their goal difference with three strikes in reply, but they come as little consolation after losing the game.

Those goals came courtesy of Hadeem Gahfoor and Brendan Malby with a brace.

It was double delight for Ryburn as both Reece Uttley and George Turner bagged themselves two each.

This was added to by Jake Finch and Brad Tynan.

There was also cancellation carnage in the Wharfedale FA Cup.

Both semi-finals, between Pool and Route One Rovers and Horsforth St. Margaret's and Ilkley Town, were victims of the weather.

New dates are to be announced as soon as possible.

The league is set to continue this weekend with ten clubs due to be in action depending on the weather.
