IT was double dismay for two local sides in the weekend's Yorkshire Amateur League fixtures.

Both Premier Division Athletico and Division One Idle suffered defeats, but the results have implications at opposite ends of the table.

After one win in their last five Athletico have been dragged into a relegation battle and now sit just a point above the drop zone after a 3-1 home loss against Alwoodley.

Athletico did well in the first half and were the better team, but had no luck when hitting the bar and post four times.

Leading score Mohammed Qasim gave Athletico the lead around the 25th minute mark but just before the break Damir Mulavdic equalised.

The second half left Alwoodley in command with goals bagged in the 60th minute from Danny Ashton and the 75th minute from Callum Armstrong.

Idle are fighting at the top of their division, but a determined Collegians side put a dent in their chances with a 3-0 away win in this top-of-the-table clash.

This was Idle's first league loss of the season, but the home side were second best in all departments against the current leaders.

Ryan Fuller, Scott Kirkbright and Louis Wrafter scored for Collegians keeping them at the top.

Idle remain in fourth and have a real shout as they sit seven points behind the leaders with four games in hand, but they'll want to get points on the board sooner rather than later as the season comes to a close.

It was a thrilling finale in a Bradford derby in Division Two, where the spoils were shared between home side Tyersal and visitors Fairbank United in a 2-2 draw.

Fairbank were awarded a free kick at the edge of the area deep into injury time.

With what was essentially the last kick of the game Hussain Iqbal stepped up and hit a delightful free kick which eluded the keeper and helped claim a deserved point for Fairbank.

Relegation-threatened Littletown clung onto Division Two status with a 5-1 victory away at Horsforth St Margaret's Reserves.

Ryan Higgins continued his rich vein of form with a double, supplemented by an own-goal and a brace for Micheal Halessellasie.

Littletown's hopes of survival are slim with only nine points left available to them while they sit six points adrift of ninth-placed Trinity & All Saints Old Boys.

This is compounded by the fact their relegation rivals have two games in hand and a win and a draw in those matches would leave Trinity & All Saints uncatchable.

St Bede's were at the races early on in their Championship visit to the side just below them in the table.

The visitors scored three goals without reply by half-time against Shire Academics.

It was a much better second half performance from Shire, but the Bedes defence stood firm and Shire only managed one goal with to make it 3-1 come the final whistle.

In Division Three it was honours even between Prospect and Morley Town at 1-1

The game was end to end with both teams trying to carve out chances but the score remained all square come the end.
