THIS is a key week for two of Bradford City’s junior sides.

Tomorrow, Bradford City Under-16s have the opportunity to reach the final of the County Cup. To do this they need to beat Brighouse Town which will be a tough task.

The sides have already met three times this season, with both sides winning one and drawing the other.

City will want to make amends for the 6-0 defeat at the hands of Brighouse early on in the season.

While Brighouse will feel that they should have won the other two games, especially in the last encounter when Bradford scored two late goals to steal a draw.

To reach the semi-final City have beaten Queensbury, Bradford City Girls u15s and given a walkover into the semi-finals.

Coach James Wright admits the lead up this vital game hasn’t been ideal. He said: “The preparation hasn't been ideal as we've play two games with 10 players and had a 7-0 hammering by Leeds United u16s.

"We'd also like to wish Bradford City u14s luck for next week in their semi-final in the County Cup.”

Meanwhile, Bradford City Women have a much-needed weekend off after last Sunday’s heavy defeat on the road at Middlesbrough.

Manager Steve Winterburn has given his side a few day’s rest ahead of five matches in four weeks through March.

The Bantams are back in action next Tuesday as they make the short journey to Guiseley in a match that was postponed in February.

The sides last met under the floodlights at Eccleshill last September, when Guiseley won 7-1 against a Bradford side reduced to 10 players for the last 30 minutes after Shirley Murphy was sent off for handball.

Up until the red card the match was evenly balanced at 2-1, but the subsequent penalty opened the floodgates and the visitors scored five unanswered goals in 18 minutes to cruise to victory.

The game was also City striker Keegan Lambert’s least meaningful action in a City shirt having injured her knee in a collision with her own goalkeeper just after half-time.

Bradford are still hunting for their first win of the season, and have only seven games remaining to register a point in what has been an extremely disrupted and chaotic season.

Mathematically they can still chase down Doncaster and Sheffield, but that task becomes increasingly difficult with each game.

There is a limited programme of women's football games this weekend.

The league schedule is limited to just one League Cup game, with Bradford (Park Avenue)'s semi-final with Division one side Lower Hopton going ahead at Tingley Athletic's Casson Avenue ground.
