Toolstation Northern Counties East Football League Division One: Campion 4 FC Bolsover 2.

THE stand out result for the area’s clubs in the Northern Counties East League was Thackley’s 5-0 away win at high flying Knaresborough Town in the Premier Division.

The Dennyboys had taken just one point from their last three league games and had not played since a 5-2 away defeat at Worksop Town on the last Saturday of January.

They had endured back to back postponements since then, but the mini break must have recharged their batteries ahead of a short trip into North Yorkshire.

Knaresborough were sixth going into the game and looking for the three points to take them to the 50 point barrier.

They began well and Thackley keeper Luke Wilson had to make a fine save from an early free kick.

But the Dennyboys had a 2-0 lead at the break after Adam Muller converted a Laurence Hunter corner and Jack Normanton blocked a clearance from the home keeper with the ball flying into the top corner.

Muller headed the visitors’ third, from a Hunter free kick, but the home side hit the bar soon after.

Normal service was resumed though when Normanton chased a seemingly lost cause before lobbing in the fourth.

Substitute Luke Robinson wrapped up the scoring with a shot on the turn.

The victory lifted Thackley above neighbours Albion Sports after the Lions were beaten 4-0 at home by second placed Yorkshire Amateur.

The Ammers’ former Liversedge midfielder Harrison Blakey bagged a first half brace and Callum Charlton added a third minutes before the break.

The visitors netted their fourth ten minutes into the second half to remove any hopes of an Albion comeback.

Liversedge were narrowly beaten at Handsworth Parramore, who moved up one place to seventh with the home win.

The Amber Parras broke the deadlock in the 19th minute through young striker Leon Howarth, who bagged a brace when he doubled the home side’s lead eight minutes from time.

But Sedge, who had been in the game throughout, hit back.

Joe Walton halved the deficit with a firm header and almost grabbed a dramatic equaliser.

Just into stoppage time Ambers’ keeper Jan Budtz saved from Walton and recovered to smother Rhys Davies’ follow up effort to keep the score at 2-1.

Eccleshill United returned to action after almost five weeks and shared the points, and six goals, with Staveley MW at the Trojans’ Inkersall Road.

Matt Parkin had given the home side Staveley an early lead but Khurram Shadaz slotted in an equaliser before half time.

The hosts retook the lead through Charlie Oglesby midway through the second half, but Eagles’ substitute Chris Lever levelled two minutes after coming off the bench.

Just into stoppage time Eccleshill skipper Charlie Flaherty put the Eagles in front for the first time, but the Trojans snatched an even later equaliser.

Campion remain second in Division One after a 4-2 home win in front of bigger than usual crowd.

The Red and Blacks had thrown the turnstiles open and advertised free football as a one off promotion to raise the club’s profile.

Leon Hurles-Brook’s profile was also raised as he helped himself to a hat-trick against FC Bolsover.

Hurles-Brook scored the only goal of the first half and was on target twice more in a four minute second half spell.

Bolsover hit back through Brett Lucas before Marcus Day added Campion’s fourth.

The visitors’ substitute Reece Lucas netted a second consolation late on.
