BRADFORD City Women continued their pointless run, but will feel disappointed with the result in a game they dominated for periods.

Steven Winterburn's side welcomed ninth-placed Nottingham Forest to a boggy Eccleshill United pitch, where they succumbed to a 2-0 loss.

The visitors started strongly and won a corner in the first minute. But City stood firm and Charlotte Sales cleared the danger.

Take a look at Bradford City Women's latest transfer dealings here...

City enjoyed a great deal of possession early on, but were unable to create any clear chances.

New signing, Sophie Parrish, kept Forest at bay with a last-ditch block from close range as the visitors looked to find an opening.

Bradford went close not long after, when Ellie Edwards picked up the ball outside the box and hit a looping shot that Forest keeper, Rebecca Thomas, held onto.

City continued to press, and Maisie Norde and Rosie Gill combined well to create an opening for Jen Clark, whose shot was easily saved.

Zoe Roberts was next to test Thomas, with a thundering trademark effort from long range that had the Forest stopper scrambling to clear from under her own bar.

Not long after that Winterburn was forced to make his first change of the afternoon as Clark limped off to be replaced by Falone Sumaili.

City started the brighter after the break, with Sumaili having two good opportunities to break the deadlock.

City failed to properly clear their lines after a cynical foul from Roberts, and Ashleigh Edwards coolly chipped the ball over the stranded Aimee Routledge in the City goal.

On 72 minutes, Parrish brought down Aimee Hickingbottom on the edge of the box, and after a consultation with the assistant, referee Charlotte Phillips changed her decision from free-kick to penalty.

Routledge came up with more heroics though, diving full length to tip the ball round the post to keep the score at 1-0 and give Bradford an injection of self-belief as they tired on the heavy pitch.

But four minutes later Edwards made up for her poor spot kick as she broke free from the City back line to finish under the keeper.

Winterburn made a final throw of the dice, bringing on Kate Donnan and Paris Durrant, but it wasn’t enough and the game ended 2-0 to the visitors.

City were due to play the Vixens this evening, but the game has been postponed.

Their next fixture will now take place on Sunday, where the Bantams host relegation rivals Sheffield on Sunday.
