OTLEY scored eight tries to rout Macclesfield 48-26, as Alex Beaumont reached his 100-point landmark for the club.

Macclesfield kicked off, but were on the back foot when they were penalised for not releasing, the kick going deep into their 22.

From the line-out, a catch and drive saw Declan Dunn power over and Macc yellow carded.

At the first scrum, Otley were awarded a penalty and they moved down by the pitch, Ben Magee dummying the defence to go over with nine minutes on the clock. Ben Smith scored the conversion.

Otley’s dominance at the scrum was beginning to tell, and a penalty into the left-hand corner nearly brought another try.

The home side continued to press and were rewarded when Joe Graham over for his seventh try of the season.

On the half hour mark, after a turnover Adam Malthouse burst through the visitors’ defence, supporting players getting the ball out to Beaumont to score in the corner.

From the re-start, it was James Dyson’s turn to burst through the ball going straight to Beaumont who scored, Smith adding another two points.

For the second half, Macclesfield made two changes to their front row and this gave them a steadier platform in the scrum.

Myles Hall scored under the posts after a penalty was put into the left-hand corner.

Dafydd Rees was next to score for the visitors after two penalties on the cemetery side.

Their best try was a move by Hall, Daniel Lomax putting Harry Blackwell through to score. Tom Morton’s three conversions reduced the difference to just 10 points, and the crowd’s thoughts turned to the fixture at Priory Park when Otley succumbed having scored four tries.

On the hour mark such thoughts were banished, and although Otley lost the ball in the scrum in the visitors' 22, Macclesfield fumbled it as they tried to play out.

Magee pounced on it, kicked the ball through and dived on it over the line. Smith added the conversion.

Lomax was yellowed card for taking out Josh Hall, as the debutant tried to chip him in front of the grandstand.

The penalty was put into the 22, and the ball worked across the pitch for Beaumont to score his 20th try for the club.

He was there again when Jack Mackie cleared Otley's lines - Beaumont running onto it and then sprinting to the line.

Macclesfield did not give up and were rewarded when Blackwell scored with six minutes to go giving them a bonus point.
